Quantum Slipstream Burst Drive: Allows the ship to enter quantum slipstream for 30 minutes and travel 150 light years before needing to be reset which takes 12 hours. Does not effect normal warp systems.

Commissioned in 2367, the U.S.S. Rutherford was specially built for long range experimental missions. It has been designated with the NX registry due to its role as an experimental technology platform.
The crew leans more heavy into the operations and science tracks, and there are a number of civilian teams on board as part of Starfleet's interorganizational joint missions. These civilians come from the Daystrom Institute, Vulcan Science Institute, and other similar organizations from across the federation.
We also have specialized Starfleet teams hailing from the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards, Advanced Starship Design Bureau, and after contact with the Dominion in 2370 a Starfleet Marine Corp training team.
After contact with the Dominion in 2370, the Rutherford was retasked to test weapons and defensive systems.
